The Little Mermaid

Our youngest performers get their own magical under-the-sea experience with a Little Mermaid camp designed just for them.

This camp introduces Mini Company students to the world of musical theatre in a way that’s playful, encouraging, and developmentally right where they need it to be. They’ll sing, dance, act, and explore storytelling while building confidence and having a great time doing it.

With our expanded program, we’re able to welcome more young performers into the Playact experience than ever before, giving them a strong and joyful first step into theatre.

What campers will experience:

Introduction to singing, movement, and acting
Creative storytelling and character play
Basic choreography and stage movement
Group songs and simple scene work
Theatre games that build focus and confidence
Learning how to take direction and work as a team

What they’ll gain:

Confidence performing in front of others
Comfort expressing themselves creatively
Early stage skills in a supportive environment
New friendships and a love for theatre

The camp wraps up with a short, informal performance for family and friends so campers can share what they’ve learned and celebrate their work.

This is the perfect starting point for young performers who are curious, energetic, and ready to jump into something new.

July 6-9: 9:30-11:30 AM, July 10: 9:30-12:30 PM

July 10: 1:00 PM & 2:30 PM (if first show sells out)

Payment Schedule:

50% due at registration and 50% due 1st day of camp

Multi-Camp Discount

Enroll in more than one camp and receive $20 off each additional camp for the same student.

Sibling Discount

Receive $20 off the second child’s registration when enrolling multiple students from the same family, regardless of camp selection.

Keri Castro is the President and Co-Founder of Playact Theatre and has spent more than a decade creating meaningful performance and training opportunities for young artists across Northwest Indiana. An Actors’ Equity Association member and theatre director, Keri holds a Master’s degree in Theatre Directing and brings both professional experience and a strong educational foundation to her work with all performers.

Keri has directed numerous productions for both Playact Theatre and Valparaiso University, including Hadestown: Teen Edition, Shrek: The Musical, and Tuck Everlasting: Theatre for Young Audiences. Her rehearsal process emphasizes ensemble storytelling, thoughtful character work, and helping students build confidence while developing strong artistic discipline.

In addition to directing, Keri is passionate about creating a supportive creative community where young performers can grow not only in their craft, but also in leadership, collaboration, and confidence both on and off the stage.
